Welcome to the Oxford and Cambridge Alumni Society Czech Republic (OCAS)

About us

OCAS is the official Oxford and Cambridge Alumni Society in the Czech Republic, with membership open to all Oxbridge Alumni living in or with strong connections to the Czech Republic. We are a not-for-profit organisation and registered as such in the Czech Republic, and our main role is simply to organise social and networking events for our Members throughout the year, the costs of which are defrayed by the sale of tickets. OCAS also functions as a first point of contact for those Czechs wishing to study at Oxford or Cambridge, as well as for their families or teachers. The Society, which has over 150 active members, is officially recognised and supported as an Alumni Group by the Alumni Offices of both Oxford and Cambridge Universities.

OCAS Membership eligibility criteria: OCAS membership is open to Alumni of both universities with strong connections to the Czech Republic who have completed 3 trimesters of residential study at a constituent college as well as those who have been engaged in research or who have been members of the academic and teaching staff of either university for the same amount of time.
Inclusive access: Current students (Undergraduates or Postgraduates) at either University can attend events at a discounted rate together with a guest without paying the Membership fee.
Organised events: OCAS hosts a number of social and professional networking events in the Czech Republic throughout the year, allowing its members to extend their social and professional contacts and further their careers.
Two Signature events: Our two major annual events - a Christmas Party in mid-December and a Summer Garden Party at the end of June - attract over 100 attendees each, and these are supplemented by various other events throughout the year for both paid-up Members and Alumni.
Inclusive participation: All Members, along with their guests, are welcome to attend all of our events apart from those specifically organised for paid-up Members. Attendance at our events is also not restricted to Oxbridge Alumni and those from other Universities are also welcome as paying guests. Paid-up Members, however, gain access to all our events at a discount.

Our Team

The OCAS Committee 2023-2025

The Society is administered on behalf of its Members by a 7-head Committee, elected every two years from amongst the Membership at a General Assembly (the last time was in December 2023), as follows: the President, who acts as the legal representative of the Society and bears overall responsibility for strategy as well as its day to day administration both in regard to local Czech laws and regulations but also in regard to relations with and support from the University Alumni Office of each University; the Secretary, who is specifically responsible for all Membership issues and event matters; the Treasurer, who is responsible for day to day financial matters and manages our publicly viewable bank account; one representative from each University, normally being the current President of the Oxford or Cambridge Czech and Slovak Society, and finally two General Members elected from amongst the Society’s Members, who are sometimes former Committee Members and who provide invaluable experience, support and insight.
